  2. Position a rack in the upper third of the oven. Preheat the oven to 425┬░F. Butter a 2-quart gratin dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dish with:
  4.       2 tablespoons fresh breadcrumbs, toasted
  5. Boil:
  6.       2 pounds broccoli, florets and stalks cut into pieces
  7. Drain and return to the cooking pot. Gently fold in:
  8.       Sauce Mornay made with Cheddar cheese
  9. Spread evenly in the baking dish and cover the top with:
  10.       2 tablespoons butter, softened, cut into small pieces
  11.       1/4 cup fresh breadcrumbs
  12. Bake until bubbly and lightly browned on top, about 20 minutes.
